Poker jargon with an h
Learning a few poker terms will not hurt you. In fact, it will help you familiarize yoursef more with the lingo in the poker world. Learn the language of poker, and immerse yourself in the poker culture.
These are poker words that start with H:
Hammer - in Texas Hold'em poker, this is a 7-2 hand, not suited. This is considered by many to be the worst hand in Texas Hold'em poker.
Hand- this is what you form with your hole cards and the community cards. In poker, the highest hand of all is the Royal Flush, consisting of suited five cards, from 10 to Ace.
Hard - also another term for an aggressive poker player. A player who's aggressive all throughout a game is considered to have played hard.
Here kitty kitty - this happens when a poker player place a bet rather smaller than he should have with the kind of good hand he has. A poker player does this to entice his opponents to call, because he does not want them to fold.
High card - in poker, this hand is the highest non-pairing card. For example, you got in your hole cards a king and a 6, then your hand does not form anything with the community cards. Therefore, your king is your high card.
Hit and run - in poker, this occurs when a player plays only for a little time. Usually, a player does this to make money quickly. In some places, this is considered soft cheating because you leave the game early to avoid losing eventually; the less games you play, the less chances of losing.
Hole cam - camera that is placed strategically to expose to the viewers what a poker player's hole cards are. Usually, this is placed under the glass area of a poker table, so when the cards are placed there, the camera will see them.
Hole cards - these are the cards given to you initially. In Texas Hold'em poker, they are the two cards dealt to you at the beginning of every round.
Hollywood - a kind of bluffing in which the poker player acts like a Hollywood actor to deceive his opponents on the real identity of his cards.
Home game - a home game is a poker game played at home instead of casinos. Usually played among friends, family, relatives and co-workers, and the stakes are lower than in the poker games found in casinos.
Hunt - in poker, this is an act of looking at the card in deck that would have been drawn next.
